Shot 95: HEARTLESS HUNTERS

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu above.

ONE OF MY WORST DAYS was when I shot a song bird.  I guess I was self-convinced that I was ridding the farm of nuisance birds, and without pausing to consider my actions, I shot one of Mother’s favorites.  Since then, I have been ashamed.  Maybe I get a little bit of credit for that.  There are too many heartless hunters who have never felt shame and mended their ways.

There are also too many heartless leaders.  Without thought for others, they proceed self-convinced.  Call it arrogance.  If they have followers, not many go willingly.  Effective leaders of others touch the hearts of others.  They care and they connect heart to heart.  From that comes willing hands, i.e., committed, real followers.
