Shot 55: RIGHT HUNT

Shot 55: RIGHT HUNT

Shot 55: RIGHT HUNT

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu above.

THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY!  That seemed to be Rudy’s motto.  He was always inventing things.  Usually they saved labor and time.  Sometimes they made impossible situations viable.  For example, he “attacked” the soft soil from a wet spring by attaching eight small, discarded, ancient cultivators to long booms with cables running to a tractor’s hitch.  Thereby, he scraped the earth to dry it out and then sow his crops.

Here’s the principle:  Hunt for a third alternative.  That’s the phrase of Stephen R. Covey in his book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. The principle is especially applicable when dealing with another and each has his/her preferred course of action.  Effective people, like Rudy, get creative and find a way to meet their objectives, and the other’s too, through a third alternative.  They hunt for it.  Hunt.  Now that implies effort, resolve, persistence, ingenuity, and the realization that unless the hunt is successful you will all go hungry.  With that kind of applied determination, you’ll find a way.
