     THAT’S INSPIRING.  What?  These:  A friendly handler, clear direction that has meaning for me, openness to new ideas, and practicing so I hit the mark consistently.
      Of the competencies that comprise effective leadership, the one at which leaders tend to be the worst is “Inspiring Others.”  Sadly, that is also the competency that makes the most difference in effectiveness.  What are some things that improve one’s inspirational competence?  Well, look above at the things that inspire Shot.  (Amazing what one can learn from a rifle.)  But let’s shoot with leadership terminology:  Interpersonal skills, strategy, innovation, and developing others.
