Shot 157: BULL’S EYE ACCURACY

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu at www.tomnewhouse.com.

“RIGHT ON.”  In shooting sports, accuracy matters.  Of course, you say.  But I’ve learned that to some so-called marksmen, accuracy is a relative thing.  Oh, they hit what they aim at:  the target.  Not bad, but Bull’s Eye is better.  And the bull’s eye shooters, have preparation, discipline, and at-the-line confidence.  I like being in their hands.
What’s it like to be in the hands of one who leads with accuracy?  You feel like you know where you’re headed.  You are confident of what you are doing.  When unclear, you can ask and bet on getting clear.  You know that whatever you are directed to do, even if apparently small, you will be instrumental in a mission.  You are sure that potentially limiting concerns have been addressed.  You want to be accurate too.  When leaders are accurate, everyone can hit the bull’s eye.
