Shot 279: TO BE RELEVANT

Shot 279: TO BE RELEVANT

Shot 279: TO BE RELEVANT

–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot

AM I RELEVANT?   I ask myself that.  I might be proud of who I am—A Winchester single-shot .22 long barreled, bolt-action rifle—but the question nags me.  Am I relevant?  Without relevance no one will care.  No one will care about me, or what I did, or what I can do.  Oh, to be relevant.
Leaders have to be relevant.  It takes effort.  These points will help:  Care about and then connect with the culture.  Tie yourself to the mission embraced by your organization.  Favor feedback—ask for it; listen to it; apply it.  Jump at opportunities to do things the new way—stretch your comfort zone.  Fly to solutions that engage others.  Sing (sincere) praises to others—their abilities, their accomplishments.  One more and get this:  Practice truth—it never grows old.  Did you recognize the forgoing as a recitation of many leadership guidelines?  Good leadership principles stay relevant.
