I NEVER SAW A CAT SKINNED. But Rudy said there was more than one way to do it. Over the years, I saw how his analogy applied: You could get good results with more than one method.
Leadership is like that: Different styles will work. You can have different approaches to obtaining high performance. That certainly does not mean, however, that any approach will work. Nope. Some approaches lead to poor performance. You still have to do things right, and you can’t get off by saying, “that’s just my style.” Find the right components to leadership, exercise them, and then excel at them. Your component mix may vary from that of other leaders. That’s fine as long as you have good leadership components in the first place.
