PEOPLE GIVE ME STRESS—always griping about something, often making mistakes, and sometimes abusing me as a rifle by demanding irreputable acts. But then, through people I am able to accomplish important, meaningful things; I experience joy; I have significance. Rudy sure showed me a lot with regard to people. He built relationships. Yes, he built them. He worked to form positive relations, and he worked to maintain them. Whatever the potential outcome, he did not abuse a relationship to get what he wanted. He knew that by adding value to a relationship he would win—maybe not in the immediate deal, but in time through joy, respect, honor, and significance. You know, by staying in relationship, he usually did well in his deals too.
Do people get in your way? Often, of course. But they also make the way. Forsake not your relationships; instead, add value to them. Nurture your relationships. Build them. Big things get done through others…eventually.
