Shot 232: BROAD SIDE OF A BARN

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu at www.tomnewhouse.com.

IT’S A NEGATIVE ASSESSMENT when someone says, “He is such a bad shot; he can’t hit the broad side of a barn.”  I’ve known shooters like that…and that was when they weren’t drinking.  Someone should take away their weapons.  Soon.
Some “leaders” fire away just as badly.  They seemingly don’t know at what they are shooting.  (Get a goal and plan!)  They don’t know how they are doing.  (Seek out feedback.)  They fail to learn from their experience.  (Reflect to develop.)  Instead, they flail away at others’ expense.  (Take care of those who take care of you.)  If they don’t improve, someone should take away their positions.  Soon.
