Shot 219: SPEED HINGED

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu at www.tomnewhouse.com.

NEED FOR SPEED!  Ever heard that?  I have.  In sport shooting or in hunting game, when it’s time to shoot, speed is of the essence.  Too slow, and away goes the opportunity.
Speed makes organizations more effective too.  Leaders need to increase organizational speed.  Enter trust.  With trust, decision making is faster, customer agreements are quicker, collaboration is more rapid, action is nippier, and so on.  Trust lubricates nearly all functions of an organization.  Thus, you won’t be surprised to hear of research showing that speed and trust are hinged:  As you increase an organization’s trust, its speed increases.
