Shot 19: COMMITTED

I WORKED WITH JIM UNTIL HE WAS COMMITTED TO JAIL!  Bad deal.  For me, I was committed to being the most accurate rifle around—a general commitment.  Specifically, I committed to each shooting event I was assigned to.  In those times, commitment was my first step—important, and certainly not the last, but it led to the next step, regardless of its difficulty.

Nothing happens without commitment.  You need to decide to “go for it.”  And not half-heartedly either.  Give it your best.  Commitment is key to getting started well.  As leaders, you need to step up with resolve and proceed with that commitment secure.  Give things your best.  You know what?  Those things will then usually turn out well, and you’ll feel good about them.  Now, let’s broaden the scope:  When you commit to something big in your life, you end up a meaningful life.
