     PRESENT.  “Hey, I’m here.”  So, I’ve seen a couple of hunting accidents.  For one, my handler acted like I wasn’t anything special.  Dummkopf, I’m a rifle, a loaded killing machine; and once dead, you’re always dead.  Get it?  No mistakes.  Pay attention to me.  Handle me with care!
     Today, the topic is social awareness.  To be emotionally intelligent one needs social awareness, that is the ability to perceive others’ emotions.  Leaders who are only aware of their own emotions are going to make mistakes with others.  And this may lead to mistakes for the whole organization.  Indeed, being aware of others and their emotional states sets you up to lead.  Remember you lead people.  They are fragile.  Well, not always, but each one is certainly unique and sometimes fragile, and you’re the leader!  Get it?
