Shot 265: Secret 9 of 10—POSITIVITY

To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu at www.tomnewhouse.com.
NO ONE WANTS TO WORK FOR A GROUCH!  To be loaded into a pickup with Mr. “Woe is Me” or Ms. “The World Stinks” is to face a long day—really long.  Who cares if we perform well?  Not me.  I just want to get out of that truck—and hope I never again have to ride with Captain Negative.
Hmmm.  Too many people hate their daily journeys.  They are caught in a negative cycle.  That’s where leadership comes in.  Of course, many tasks are mundane; we all know that.  But working for someone who only sees dark sides is depressing.  You don’t have to be Howdy Doody.  In fact, pretending that something is pleasant when it isn’t makes you out of touch.  But you should have a positive outlook.  Leaders with a positive disposition can have followers who feel engaged.
