Shot 259: Secret 3 of 10—PRACTICE

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu at www.tomnewhouse.com.

PADEREWSKI!  That’s a name.  Here’s the first part:  Ignacy Jan.  He’s a famous (to some) Polish concert pianist and composer who said, “If I miss one day of practice, I notice it.  If I miss two days of practice, the critics notice it.  If I miss three days of practice, the audience notices it.”  I can relate:  Some bozos took me shooting only to blast away.  Being a single shot, I was tossed aside because blasting with me took too much work… and practice, if accuracy was desired.
Many aspects of leadership, do not come naturally.  They require practice.  That is perfect practice:  doing it right again and again.  And if not right, reflection and correction.  If you don’t do it right, you’ll notice as will those who follow you.  Eventually, higher ups will notice: your last blast.  Get sharp; stay sharp.
