AAAH, A DOUBLE-ENTENDRE. Many a rifle has had the assignment of an execution—the ugly one. Not me. My role was the other kind: to execute—to perform well, to bring home the bacon, as we say. I was pretty good at it. Made me stand out.
You gotta love vision. And a good strategy is admirable. But frankly, without execution those features don’t amount to a hill of beans. It’s execution that typically wins the day. Performance generates results. To lead well is to also lead in the day-to-day execution. And, while that has many ingredients, the first is to value it. Do you value execution? Is your proof visible?
