— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership. It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all. You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu above. —
HE REFERRED ME! He was my buddy, a .3006. This rifle was developed for use in World War I and was commonly called a thirty-aught-six. It shot .30 caliber bullets and as such was far more powerful than I. Yet for much of the farm work we rifles got involved with, my buddy said I was the firearm for the job. Made me proud, a mere single shot .22, being sized up by a powerful stalwart to “git her done.”
Call it the 30-aught-6 principle: Give subordinates a job that you know they can do, and tell them you have total confidence in their abilities. Wow! It works magic. Many employees are itching to make a difference, and when they are ready and when you express your confidence in them, they will shine. Katie, bar the door; they will go after your project with vim and vigor. Expect a win….you fired up a winner.
