–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–
I WAS A TOOL. Still am. I do what I am told to do. As a rifle, I can be something for good or something for evil. I don’t like it, but that’s the story every time.
We all get it: Being a tool is seldom fun. Some leaders feel like tools. It might be because they are. This blog does not advocate treating people as mere tools, but it does deal with reality. So here goes: Some bosses will treat you like tools of the trade. Face it—not, necessarily, like it. Do what you are told do. Some jobs for some bosses are transactional. You may be using the job too—having a place to work and getting paid. Break the pattern with those you lead. Go for transformational relationships. In time, you will move on. Seek genuine relationships, and remember how it feels otherwise. Continue to lead well.
