YOU DON’T SAY! Battue—a hunt involving the beating of bushes to flush game. Can’t say that I have ever been on a battue. Where I lived, things we hunted typically ran from bushes, or, maybe, engaging in a battue never occurred to us. By the way, if one beats bushes and no game emerges, is it a battue?
Too many leaders beat projects endlessly without seeing results. Assessing when to move on is an art few have. But there are guideposts, such as: Accept reality—you can’t squeeze water from a dry rag. Here’s another: Note when the opportunity is gone—the ship has sailed. Or, recognize the idea behind the project is faulty—you can’t beat that with a stick. One more: You won’t get success without hard work—bacon without the sizzle. Face it—some projects are just all hat and no cattle.
