— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership. It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all. You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu above. —
TOMMY’S ARM WAS RESTORED even though it was shot off in a hunting accident—no arm from the wrist down. Horrible. I was there, but I was not the culprit. Blame a shotgun, if you must. It was an accident. After a couple of years and several surgeries, he had his arm back—a good doc and a lot of divine grace!
Grace is getting something you don’t deserve. As a leader I’ll bet there have been times when you received grace from someone. They gave you a break. Maybe they “let go” something stupid you said or did. Maybe they bailed you out when you were floundering and deserved to drown. Without grace, few would make it. Here goes: Do you ever give grace? You know: you forgive, assist, support just because it will help someone out. Can’t do it all the time, of course. That would be ingenuous and deceitful. But giving grace generally improves your attitude, working relationships, and the team’s output. Consider this trite expression: “armed with grace.”
