GLASS OR BUCKET? Metaphors are funny. On hot summer days, I have seen folk yearn for a glass of cold water. But then, no one wants a bucket of cold water poured on her or her idea.
Good leaders are as refreshing as a cold drink on a hot day. Poor leaders are as unnerving as a splashed bucket of water. Leaders, you are the water. To your people you can be refreshing (and realize high performance) or unnerving (and limit performance). You should facilitate. That means, “make easy” … refreshing water.
