YOU CANNOT NOT COMMUNICATE. Try it. Ha: People attribute all kinds of meaning to your behavior, or your perceived lack thereof. When I rode in the window of a pickup truck, when I hung above a mantle, when my chamber snapped as the bolt was engaged, I was communicating. I wasn’t really doing much, but I was sending messages.
But can you communicate well (or poorly)? Leadership is done through communication. So simple; so often missed. As a leader, you are always communicating. Consider the messages that your followers, or potential followers, are getting. Adjust your behavior to message the meanings you want—the ones that will move your organization forward.
