ARE WE BECOMING LESS CIVIL? With hunting one practices courteousness. Hunters hold each other’s weapons when traversing rough terrain or when opening gates. They make allowances for each other. They show respect to one another regardless of the situation.
I heard the president of a company say, “Even if we have to fire someone for a dreadful deed, we will treat that person with respect.” Everyone deserves respect. Respect generates courtesy. If you respect someone, show it, even if you disagree, even if you know they are in the wrong. Oh, and get this: When you show respect in those untoward times, you earn respect. You show leadership.
