I KNEW SOME CHARACTERS, and I knew Rudy, a man with character. Rudy was good at what he did, and did what he said he would. You could count on him. More than that, he did the right thing. Put those together and you get “consistently good.” I contrast that with some characters I knew. They were either inconsistently good or consistently bad.
Are you trustworthy? Can folk count on you? Well, if so, you got it together with competence and character. Competence means you know your stuff and perform accordingly. Character has to do with moral qualities and integrity. You wouldn’t trust a person of low character, and you wouldn’t trust a person who couldn’t consistently perform.
