–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–
Among horses, Trigger was Tommy’s favorite. There were other famous horses: Silver (as shouted the Lone Ranger—“hi-yo, Silver, Away!”), Traveler (Southern folk remember General Lee), Marengo (think Napoleon), Seabiscuit and Secretariat (race horses that you know), and Boxer. What’s that last one? Boxer, the horse in Animal Farm. I have been shouted at to “hold your horses” in the name of hunting safety, but Boxer suggests a different message.
Leaders, you may not be ready for this: Don’t be like Boxer. You see, Boxer was willing to work harder at about everything. He wore himself out. A better system was needed. Too many leaders willingly tackle every imaginable project, when a better system should be sought, developed, and implemented. Indeed, hard work pays off, but hard, smart work pays better—more satisfaction, less stress, more success, less sweat, and so on. Hold the Boxer horses. Mount campaigns to do things better.
