“LIVE AND LEARN,” Rudy once said that on a hunt. Later he said, “Some folks never learn.” Hold it! To never learn means one lived. The two sayings contradict. What’s a rifle, like me, supposed to take away?
Good question, but it’s not so tough of one. As leader, you should know that you will only learn if you reflect on your experiences. Reflection is the key. Groups learn when they do after-action reviews. You can too. What went well, and why? What did not go well, and why? This is not a time to congratulate or castigate oneself. The goal is learning.
