NOT MUCH FOR ACCURACY, especially with a single shot like me. To shoot from the hip is to be reckless. It’s generally in the right direction but likely off target. It also can be impulsive—quick, still in the right direction, but not on the mark.
Go ahead and shoot from the hip. You’ll regret it, as a leader. Sure, once in a while you will score and look like a real hero, but generally you will only be approximately right, which means you’re wrong. Whether in hiring, negotiating, strategizing, handling conflict, holding a meeting—whatever it may be—take time to get it right. You will be rewarded. Success follows those who hit targets. Speed, yes, but not without accuracy.
