Shot 301: PATHFINDER

–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–

TRAIL HIKING.  I have been there on hunts and prefer it to bushwhacking.  While on a trail, I got to wondering:  How did this trail get here?  Who established it?  What was the first passage like?  I had few answers, but I did develop great respect for pathfinders.
Leaders are often pathfinders.  They go where others have not ventured, and they take others with them.  You have to respect them.  Let’s examine leadership pathfinding.  First, what is good path?  It’s safe; it’s reliable—time after time it gets one to the right destination; and it’s simple—though through new territory, the process is easily repeated.  Second, what is a good pathfinder?  Of course, it’s one who develops a good path.  But more than that, a good pathfinder is inspiring; surefooted—confident; encouraging; open to ideas and collaborative; and strategic—identifying aims and the means to reach them.
