Shot 300: POSITIVE FEEDBACK

–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–

WHOA!  POSITIVE FEEDBACK?  We rifles think feedback is negative and praise is positive.  What’s with positive feedback?  Somebody is trying to confuse me!
Positive feedback reinforces behavior.  Leaders need to reinforce it when someone does something right.  Praise might do it, but praise can be generalized, and, with it alone, a specific behavior goes un-reinforced.  Here are simple steps to positive reinforcement: 1) State what you saw the other do. 2) Say you appreciate that. 3) Specify why that’s important. 4) Share how that makes you feel.  Do those four things soon and sincerely.  To reiterate, simply, but soon and sincerely, state, say, specify, and share.  Have done that?  I noticed; thanks; it leaves others wanting more; and, by the way, I feel proud knowing you are leading with feedback.
