Here is a winning formula: E = Q X C (Excellence equals Quality times Commitment). Let’s say you want a mission to work well, excellently, that is. You have a high-quality plan, say 9 on a 10-pt scale. But if the commitment to executing the plan is low, say 3 on our 10-pt scale. The product is 27. Maybe you give a little on your brilliant plan (say, down to a 6), but those carrying it out are gung-ho to make it work (8). The net effect is 48. Like I said: It’s formula you can win with. Plan well for a high Q; lead others well for a high C. Keep multiplication in mind.
