–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–
YAY, I’M A VISIONARY. I still lead, albeit differently than before. I have entered a new season in my career. Here’s my deal: A—I have been around a long time. B—I have been successful. C—I have taken others to success. D—Now, I see things that others, especially younger, less experienced, rifles don’t see, and, thereby, I guide them to take appropriate action.
There will come a time when leadership for you will not be learning from others, or doing things well, or even taking others to new heights. You will still be a leader but from a visionary perspective. That is, you will be a visionary if you continue to develop in your career. Gene Dalton and Paul Thompson, while teaching at Harvard, recognized four stages for career growth. Here they are: Dependent Contributor, Independent Contributor, Coach/Mentor, and Visionary. You can always lead. Recognize the season you are in, and go for it.
