Shot 217: WORK Vs. LIKE

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu at www.tomnewhouse.com.

I WORKED HARDER for those I liked.  What?  Yeah, I wanted those I liked to perform well too.  I did what I could to make them successful.  As to those I did not like, not so much.
You may not have dumb rifles, like Shot, work for you.  Chances are they think for themselves.  And chances are that when they think you are relatable, they will do more and work harder.  Research shows that the more leaders build positive relationships, the more people are willing to give extra effort.  You see:  Positive relations work.  How about people’s extra effort if they don’t like their leader?  Perhaps, they act similar to Shot:  Not so much.
