WE HAD THEM IN OUR BAILIWICK. Bad characters, that is. We also had some folk with good character. Others liked these folks, and even modeled themselves after them. There is something about character that repels when its bad and attracts when its good.
Character—good character, that is—is critical for leadership. Who wants to follow a bad dude? No way! Honesty, integrity, authenticity, openness, credibility, and truthfulness are attractors. Give off these characteristics consistently and you have a foundation for leadership. Suggest their opposites and people will run from you…even if they hang around for paychecks.
