AUTHENTICITY. I will humbly say that marked me. You see, I was just a single shot, and a mere .22 at that. But I accepted my lot and made the most of it. I was extremely accurate, and I only took on small game—you know, varmints, and such. Came to be respected, did I. Yep, respected.
Get this: People prefer to follow leaders who are authentic—those who do their best and admit strengths and weaknesses. Sure, people poke at shortcomings, and they seemingly want perfection. But contrast perfection with authenticity, and they’ll choose “walk the talk” every time. Now, you can’t be an authentic slouch and still lead. That’s not the point. Rather, lead well. Attend to good leadership practices, and stay genuine. Be real.
