Shot 121: BLUE YOUR BARREL

— To follow is a bullet of wisdom on leadership.  It comes from Tom’s rifle, named Shot, who has seen it all.  You’ll get the drift by clicking Blog in the menu above.

AND VARNISH YOUR STOCK!  What does a gopher, raccoon, or white tail deer care about your appearance as a rifle?  Nothing.  And that won’t help your shooting either, technically.  But practically?  Maybe it’s just coincidental, but I have noticed that sharp-appearing rifles are often sharp shooters.
Let’s talk leadership and appearance.  Two angles.  One: The perceptions of others.  Of course, in spite of injunctions to the contrary, people judge books by their covers, and we all know that product packaging drives purchasing.  Stop the self-deception.  If you want to lead, look like the leader.  Now, two: You tend to perform up to your self-image.  If you look “run of the mill,” you’ll feel “run of the mill,” and you’ll execute no better.  But, if you dress the part, you tend to play the part.  Your role is to lead success, dress for it.
