329: BIG SHOT

329: BIG SHOT

329: BIG SHOT

–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–

DICTATOR JOE.  You know the one who is all puffed up and ready to tell everyone what to do.  He (sometimes, she) really doesn’t know his head from a hole in the ground.  (We rifles have some strange sayings.)  But that person thinks he is the cat’s meow.  Indeed, he needs to be brought down to size.
We are back to humility, leadership humility.  Great leaders, says Jim Collins in his book Good to Great, are men and women who demonstrate qualities of courage, modesty, and humility.  Remember your roots, recognize your weaknesses, and render yourself dependent on others’ strengths.  Recall the proverb:  Pride goes before a fall.  Heads up:  You are no greater than your weakest link.  And you have one (or, several) in spite of your power.  Be open to learning.  Put others’ needs first.  Listen, really listen.  To wrap, consider some words of Jesus, “humble yourself to be exalted.”
