There’s a little doc in most leaders. To explain, in 1984 Beckman and Frankel reported a study that showed doctors interrupt on average within 18 seconds. Leaders too often fit that pattern. They want to tell rather than ask. But, as a leader, asking others questions so they figure out what will work for them is typically better. Why? Because others know their situations and themselves—things apparent and things below the surface. Furthermore, most persons are committed to their own resolutions. Thus, their solutions are rigorously applied.
