–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–
I WAS A SERVANT. I was not a steward. As rifle, I did what I was told, and, I will add, the task was sometimes not pleasant. I wish I did unpleasant tasks because I chose to. Then I would have been a steward.
A lot has been written about servant leadership. It is generally good. As a leader you will be respected if you are willing to be of service to others. But today, let’s examine leaders as stewards. You see, stewards take care of another’s property as if it were their own, or better than they would take care of their own. They recognize that their leadership role is a gift bestowed on them by the true owner and that they need to lead wisely. Some leaders are owners but most are not. Instead, as stewards, they should ask, What is the intent and way of the owner? What will reflect him/her/them? How can I best care for the owner’s property?
