Shot 338: WALK IN ANOTHER’S BOOTS

–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot

BOOTS, YOU SAY?  I thought it was moccasins.  Doesn’t matter:  The point is to see things from another’s perspective.  Some of us rifles prefer accuracy over speed.  After all, that’s what us single shots are known for.  I don’t see much value in whipper-snapper automatics. They are all speed and no accuracy (I’m sure).
As a leader you are biased.  One bias that you likely have is confirmation bias. In other words, you, like most people, overvalue information that confirms your beliefs or your expectations.  Careful.  You might be reinforcing a belief without truly ever seeing the “other side.”  You may think you do, but likely you have learned the “other side” through commentaries about it, not by actually processing it.  To have true empathy, you have to take on another’s perspective.  Leaders who do that are equipped to troubleshoot, tackle change, team with others, trust, and more.
