REALLY?! “Bite the Bullet” is a common idiom. I like it, as you might expect of a rifle. It means to do something that is difficult, painful, and apparently necessary. It comes from soldiers enduring an amputation without anesthesia by biting on a lead bullet. Really? Someone did that?
Leaders, there will come a time you must do something difficult, apparently necessary, and painful. You have to do it. Maybe you have to do it to save the business. Maybe you have to do something to grow. Sorry, but that is a role of leaders. Hard? Yes! Necessary? No other acceptable alternative is available; so, yes! Tell the bad news, fire the problem child, break out a new business line, take the punishment, whatever. Be the leader: Bite the Bullet.
