Shot 393: BLIND AS A BAT

–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–

THAT’S BAT BLIND.  But bats aren’t really blind; they just “see” differently.  I knew a man who had no vision, but he would report “seeing” things.  He perceived, he knew, he got it.  Contrarily, there are people who can actually see but don’t get it.  They are blind.
Some leaders are blind and don’t know it.  They have blind spots.  Some leaders have bigger blind spots than do others.  The challenge is to reduce blind areas.  Smart leaders find out what they don’t know.  They humbly ask questions.  In fact, they seek feedback.  They seek feedback from employees, customers, peers, direct reports, and bosses, and they receive the feedback genuinely, respectfully, and unpretentiously.  They see new things.
