–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–
CHEERS TO ALL. As a rifle, I laugh at deadly chants in sports that are supposed to inspire victory. You might hear, “Slay the Wildcats” or “Kill the Cornhuskers” or “Slaughter the Beavers!” Winning is grand, but must there be such vicious finality? I know death to be real. It’s quite opposite of the entertainment of a sporting event.
Leaders that take pleasure in firing an employee are sick. Oh, it has to be done on occasion, but taking pleasure in it is not right. It often speaks of a leader’s failure—failure to hire well, failure to train, or, perhaps, failure to clarify expectations. It may speak of the employee’s failure—failure to fit in, failure to perform, or, possibly, failure to act ethically. In any case, firing speaks of failure. It’s nothing to take pleasure in.
