PAIR OF DUCKS? That sounds better to us rifles…and it makes sense. Ever see one duck? Of course, and you looked for a second one, didn’t you? You see, ducks come in pairs…normally, we think.
Good leaders deal well with paradox. In fact, they determine a successful path forward when paradox undermines others. Consider some paradoxes that Jim Collins surfaces in his book Built to Last: Core values—Change; Profit—Purpose; Stability—Revolution. The key is AND. In other words, good leaders embrace both sides of the paradox in finding a way forward. They dismiss OR, taking one side. They don’t duck (pun intended) apparent contradictions.
