–Below is a leadership bullet from Tom’s rifle named Shot–
NOT REALLY! But goals distract. Wait. Who says? Me, a dumb rifle. Every marksman at a shooting contest has the goal of winning; so, a goal can’t be the difference maker. Too many contestants think because they sincerely want to win, they will. They are fooled.
A dumb rifle, but Shot is unto something. Goals are good, but only as they build commitment to process. Well, processes. The continual engagement in effective processes lead to fulfillment of the goal. It’s what one does to reach a goal that really matters. The best leaders have processes that they engage in religiously. They are committed to their processes. Oh, talent enters in and so do beliefs, but without processes, no progress and no goal fulfillment.
