IT’S A SECRET…WORK! I’ve seen many a smart fella; some were rich. I’ve also seen my share of dull ones too, and some of them were also rich. From my standpoint the difference was usually the amount of effort one put in. Not always…. working hard at a stupid activity doesn’t do much, but kicking back, in spite of a brilliant concept, bags mediocrity, at best.
Well, leaders, you’ll hear plenty of advice for being better at leading. I’ve given a lot of it myself, and it’s good. But, you can apply all the advice in the world and fail to be successful unless you put in the effort…and usually the time. Let’s be clear: that is extra effort and extra time. Extra, as in beyond the normal and maybe way beyond. You’re the leader. Get out in front, be out in front, stay out in front. You’ll have to pick what “front” entails for you, but whatever that is, don’t let up.
